Eskerrik asko - what an honor! The Alexa Rose Foundation graciously supports local artists, and this year I was selected as one of the grantees. I am beyond grateful for these funds to support my metalsmithing career by purchasing equipment for my home studio. Particularly in these times of quarantine, I will treasure these tools even more. Thank you ARF, it is a wonderful way to memorialize a creative soul…I’ll think of her often.
Maite Iribarren-Gorrindo is the face and the love behind Ahizpak. Since 2012, this design adventure has been her sole creative outlet. The passion for her Basque heritage has opened a beautiful rabbit-hole into the cultural exploration of history, travel, anthropology, dance, mythology and ultimately the arts.
I’ve always dreamed of attending a big university. Being that BSU is down the road and it has a wonderful Art Metals program, it seemed like the right time to become a “new/seasoned” student on campus. Thanks to my MVG for the encouragement.
After years of designing weddings for family & friends, it looks like Ahizpak has officially found a new creative outlet. Please see our new section on EVENTS and pass around the good word. We are ready to meet with couples on their new adventure.
Ahizpak Designs just received an invitation to be a part of the Smithsonian Summer Folklife Festival Marketplace. What an honor. Now to get to work!
Ahizpak was originally founded in 2005 by two sisters: Maite & Izar. Ahizpak is “sisters” in Basque. Eskerrik asko (thank you) to all our wonderful friends, family & patrons! ♥, M & I
Note: Ahizpak really is a family affair, so "Ahizpak-sisters" extends to our parents, cousins, friends and all the people we love... thanks for being another sista'. We couldn't do it without you!
